Gregory Martin is the author of the memoir, Stories for Boys, a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers pick and a SEATTLE READS one city, one book selection.  Martin’s first book, Mountain City was a New York Times Notable Book, featured as one of ten “Larger-Than-Life Memoirs” on NPR’s Morning Edition, and is known to some people in Mountain City as “the book.”  His essays have appeared in The Sun, Image, The Missouri Review, The Kenyon Review, North American Review, and The American Scholar, among other publications.  He’s received a Washington State Book Award, a Silver Pen Award from the Nevada Writer’s Hall of Fame, and an Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award from the University of New Mexico. Also, an 8×10 shed he built in his backyard where the treehouse used to be is the envy of friends, neighbors, and colleagues. He and his wife live with a poorly behaved Maremma in Albuquerque, where he teaches in UNM’s creative writing program.
